In the 740 group there are 24 electric motor cars of which 23 are still operational and 1 transformed in 2004 as a historical train to celebrate the electrification of the Ferrovie Nord Milano network in 1929 and the 125th anniversary of the Milan railway Company. The first 740 were built in 1928-29. The use of the 740-01 as a historical train was designed to show the trains operating at that time but also the atmosphere of passengers’ journeys in the 30’s (polished wooden benches and original fittings). Therefore this motor car was restored to celebrate the 125th anniversary of FNM in 2004 and redecorated like the first electric cars of the network: white and blue with golden thin stripes and featuring the first logo adopted by Ferrovie Nord Milano.
